The Greyhounds scored the first 8 points of the game and cruised to an 84-65 victory Saturday at South Arkansas Community College in El Dorado. SouthArk is a new member in the NJCAA and in their first season of competition in Region 2.
Jalen Lynn scored 21 of his game-high 32 points in the first half including a last-second shot just inside the halfcourt line as ASU Mid-South led 45-33 at the break. Christian White was also dominant, scoring 9 of his 11 points in the first frame to go with a game-high 10 rebounds for his second double-double of the season.
Then in the second half, Kevin Fulton scored 10 of his 13 points and Jarius Sharp put in 6 of his 10 points. All 11 Greyhounds who played in the game scored, although Ike Moore went out of the game midway through the first half and did not return after hitting a three-pointer.
The Greyhounds held the Stars to 33.3% shooting including 26.1% from the arc while shooting 44.4% from the field, 45.0% from the three-point line and 79.2% from the free throw line for the victory. ASU Mid-South also dominated the boards with a 54-40 advantage, but did turn the ball over 22 times.
The Greyhounds (8-2) have two December games remaining before the holiday break, hosting Northeast Mississippi Community College Thursday and St. Louis Community College Saturday. Both games are doubleheaders with the women with Thursday's games beginning at 5:30pm and Saturday's contests tipping off at 2:00pm.
