"It felt good to be back in the Dog House after being on the road the last 4 games. I was a little nervous with how we would come out after Thursday night's game against National Park taking a lot out of us, but our guys responded the right way. We were definitely way too sloppy at times and not taking good shots, or defensively we weren't getting to our rotations on time and gambling taking ourselves out of good position. We'll point those things out in film tomorrow, but we have to clean up these minor things before Cossatot comes here on Monday. I loved the way our guys understood what we talked about briefly there after the game, so I'm excited to get back to work with them tomorrow and get ready for Monday to close out the first half of Region play strong." head coach Cody Hastings had to say after the win.
The Greyhounds jumped out to an early lead and would never trail at any point of the game. The Greyhounds largest lead of the first half was 10, right after the Bulldogs would eventually cut the lead to 4 late in the first half. That was as close as the Bulldogs would get to the Greyhounds for the rest of the game. ASU Mid-South would push their lead to 20 midway through the 2nd half before Shorter made one last effort for a comeback. They would pull within 7, but the Greyhounds proved to be too much as they would end up defeating the Bulldogs 74-59.
Santana Spivey scored a game high 21 going 5 for 10 from 3. Darren Wallace provided a spark off the bench scoring 17 points and grabbing 5 rebounds. Jermaine Christopher added 11. CJ Washington added 7 points and 9 rebounds. Davonta Tucker scored 5 points and grabbed 6 rebounds.
ASU Mid-South host UA Cossatot on Monday, January 20. Tip-off is set for 7:30.
