The Arkansas State University Mid-South Lady Greyhounds led for nearly three quarters against Arkansas Baptist, but dropped a 67-62 game at home last Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Greyhounds (4-10 overall) led after the first quarter and at halftime, but fell behind late in the third quarter before falling short in a crazy fourth quarter.
ASU Mid-South lost 15 turnovers in the second half against Arkansas Baptist.
The Lady Greyhounds took their final lead of the day early in the fourth quarter on a basket by Ja'Brisha Hawkins, who hit for a game-high 23 points.
From there, the biggest lead by either team would be five points by Arkansas Baptist, late in the game.
However, a pair of free throws by Regina Garrett got the Lady Greyhounds within three points and when the hosts forced a Lady Buffalo turnover, they had the chance to tie the game with a triple.
Instead, ASU Mid-South lost a turnover late in the shot clock and when Arkansas Baptist collected the rebound, the game appeared to be all but over.
That's when ASU Mid-South knocked the ball loose from a Lady Buffaloes ball-handler near midcourt and it richoted off of the visitors out-of-bounds to give the hosts some new life.
However, ASU Mid-South misfired on a pair of would-be game-tying three-point attempts to snuff out their final opportunity.
Kimberly Reed had 10 points for ASU Mid-South, while Samantha Jackson hit for 8 points, and Marion native Raven Morrow, Garrett and Kelsey Green went for 7 apiece.
The Lady Greyhounds play at Dyersburg State on Wednesday before returning home to play North Arkansas on Saturday at 2 p.m.
The North Arkansas game is one of ASU Mid-South's pair of regional games that will decide where the Lady Greyhounds will play their regional title game on February 27.
