The Greyhounds executed an efficient game plan to take a convincing 83-69 victory Saturday at National Park College in Hot Springs to move to 1-0 in Region 2 play.

Playing in front of a big crowd for the Nighthawks' homecoming game, the Greyhounds first basket was a Christian White dunk as ASU Mid-South methodically pulled ahead and kept a lead throughout the half. National Park's KaJuan Christon hit a three-pointer at the end of the period to close the Greyhound lead to 39-35 at the half.
In the second half, the teams battled even until a J.T. Smith layup with 15:20 left started a 10-2 Greyhound run. Ike Moore's layup gave the Greyhounds a double-digit lead, 57-47, with 14:22 remaining, and ASU Mid-South began to extend their lead from there. Kevin Fulton's three-pointer made it 70-54 with 9:24 left, and Moore's layup with 6:37 remaining pushed the lead to 20, 74-54. The Greyhounds led 81-61 until a National Park 8-2 run in the last 3:15 set the final margin.
ASU Mid-South shot 49.3% from the field and hit 10-of-26 three-pointers (38.5%) despite shooting only half the free throws as the home team. The Greyhounds did take a 45-29 rebounding advantage to offset 18 turnovers, and held the Nighthawks to 43.5% shooting from the field and 31.3% from the arc.
Ike Moore led all scorers with 25 points on 10-of-17 shooting to go with 6 rebounds. Christian White finsihed with 16 points and 6 boards and Zach Byrd scored 11 points to with 6 rebounds and a game-high 6 assists. Jalen Lynn finished with 10 points, and Jarius Sharp led the team with 7 rebounds to go with 6 points.
The Greyhounds played the first of 5 games, 4 on the road, in a 10-day stretch which is part of a brutal January schedule that sees them play 11 games in 24 days. They next travel to Fulton, Mississippi, to take on Itawamba CC Monday before heading to Poplar Bluff, Missouri, to play Three Rivers College on Wednesday. Both Greyhound teams return to The Dog House Saturday, January 18, to host Region 2 opponent SAU Tech.
