Cordell comes to ASU Mid-South from West Memphis Christian where he spent the last 4 seasons as the Head Baseball Coach and Supervisor in Student Affairs. During those 5 seasons, the Knights would go on to compete in the State playoffs 2 of the last 3 seasons.
Before West Memphis Christian, Cordell was the Head Baseball Coach at the Academies of West Memphis for 3 seasons. Prior to West Memphis, Cordell spent his first stint at West Memphis Christian for 2 years as the Head Baseball coach. Both years the Knights qualified for the state playoffs. Cordell coached 18u summer baseball for the Eagles which was a team based out of West Memphis and Marion for 14 years. They won the Babe Ruth State Championship in 2001. He had a part in sending 50 athletes to college.
Coach Cordell spent 23 years playing fast pitch softball during his 48 year coaching career. During his playing days, he was named to Arkansas's All-State Fast Pitch Team three times. He signed with the Kansas City Royals Orginization in 1971, where he played for 2 1/2 years. He then got him amateur status back to where he would then enroll at Christian Brothers College, now known as Christian Brothers University.
Coach Cordell lives in Proctor, Arkansas. He has two kids, one daughter and one son. He also has 6 grand children.
