The Lady Greyhounds fought valiantly but were outscored down the stretch to fall 65-61 to the #8-ranked North Arkansas College Lady Pioneers Saturday at The Dog House.
Leading 34-26 at the half and 49-41 after the third quarter, the Lady Greyhounds managed only 12 fourth-quarter points and saw North Arkansas take the ball to the basket for seven field goals and then take advantage by knocking down 7-of-10 at the free throw line for the NJCAA Region 2 victory. With the Lady Pioneers holding the playoff tiebreaker, the loss dictates the Lady Greyhounds will travel to North Arkansas College on Saturday, March 3, for the NJCAA Region 2 playoff game that sends the winner to the District playoffs and the loser home for the season.
Alesha Penister led ASU Mid-South with 22 points while Summer Abram scored 15 and Teiangula Boston finished with 9.
Next up is a trip Thursday to play at Northwest Mississippi Community College in a rematch that saw the Lady Rangers steal a 92-84 win in double-overtime on November 13.
