A cold first half hurt the Lady Greyhound's comeback chances as ASU Mid-South fell 64-48 to the 12th ranked North Arkansas Lady Pioneers Saturday at Pioneer Pavilion in Harrison.
Down 17-3 at the end of the first quarter, the Lady Greyhounds managed only 7 points in the second period to trail 29-10 at the half. But there was still some fight left as ASU Mid-South battled back with 19 points in each of the last two periods, cutting the lead to only six points early in the fourth quarter. But the Lady Pioneers would slowly extend the lead and ice the game with 20-of-26 free throw shooting.
For the game, the Lady Greyhounds shot only 27.0% from the field and 20.8% from the three-point line, although they pulled down 11 offensive rebounds and forced 18 turnovers to make a late run. The loss overshadowed a solid performance from Sable Greer who finished with game-highs of 20 points, 13 rebounds and five assists to lead the Lady Greyhounds in each category while Alesha Penister scored 15 points to go with a game-high 4 steals.
The Lady Greyhounds next travel to Three Rivers College in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, on Tuesday, before returning to The Dog House for a doubleheader against National Park College Thursday at 5:30 p.m. with the men to follow at 7:30 p.m.
