Facing the second-ranked Johnson County Community College Lady Cavaliers, ASU Mid-South battled tough but came up short as they fell 68-45 Saturday at The Dog House.
The Lady Greyhounds (3-3) held JCCC to just 36.8% shooting from the field and only 18.8% from the three-point line, but shot only 26.5% from the field, committed 25 turnovers and lost the rebounding battle 45-32. ASU Mid-South managed just 16 first-half points and trailed 29-16 at the half before exploding for 20 points in the third quarter. But Johnson County (10-0) scored 26 in the third frame and coasted to a 13-9 advantage in the final period.
Cierra Penn led the Lady Greyhounds with 15 points to go with 5 rebounds while Adrianne Chambers and Alindavia Lockett scored 8 points each. Aaliyah Lee pulled down 7 rebounds to go with 6 points.
Next up is a trip to Texas just after Thanksgiving as the Lady Greyhounds take on Cisco College and Ranger College on Saturday and Sunday, respectively, before returning to The Dog House Monday against Williams Baptist University JV in a doubleheader with the men.
