The Lady Greyhounds battled to the end but fell short in a 72-62 loss to Mississippi Delta Community College Saturday at The Dog House.
Trailing 33-26 at the half, the Lady Greyhounds battled throughout the second half in a game not determined until the last few minutes thanks to Alindavia Lockett scoring 9 of her 17 points in the fourth quarter. But Mississippi Delta shot a blistering 53.8% from the field and an incredible 7-of-9 from the three-point line to keep ASU Mid-South at bay.
Once again, turnovers and missed free throws haunted the Lady Greyhounds as they turned it over 32 times and went just 14-of-28 from the line despite battling even on the boards, 37-37. The Lady Greyhounds shot 51.1% from the field and 33.3% from the arc, but gave up 18 offensive rebounds while collecting only 8 offensive rebounds themselves.
Adrianne Chambers and Lockett pulled down 7 and 5 rebounds, collectively, and both dished out 5 assists each while Aaliyah Lee scored 13 points to go with 5 rebounds. Tyler Hitchcock and Ashley Pegue scored 8 points each.
The Lady Greyhounds (4-8) are now off for the holiday break and return to action Saturday, January 4, at Southwest Tennessee Community College who they beat 70-68 in overtime on November 9 in the Lady Greyhound Classic. They play 8 of 9 games on the road in January with the lone home game being Saturday, January 18, against Region 2 foe Southern Arkansas University Tech.
