The fourth quarter was not kind to the Lady Greyhounds at SAU Tech took a 69-68 come-from-behind win Saturday at The Dog House.
Holding a 37-24 halftime lead, ASU Mid-South took the third quarter as well in leading 55-40 heading into the final period. But the Lady Rockets stormed back with a 29-point fourth quarter as SAU Tech's Devena Smith scored 10 of her game-high 28 points to lead the comeback. The Lady Greyhounds managed only 13 points in the final frame after leading by as much as 19 with two minutes left in the third quarter.
But with 7:31 left in the fourth, SAU Tech had gone on a 9-2 run to trim the lead to 8 points, 57-49, and by the 5:28 mark ASU Mid-South held only a 59-58 lead. The Lady Greyhounds would then surge ahead by 5 only to see the Lady Rockets' Devena Smith hit her second three-pointer of the quarter to tie it up at 66-66 with just under two minutes left. SAU Tech would then hit a short jumper just outside the paint to take their first lead of the game, 68-66, with 42.9 seconds remaining. The Lady Greyhounds had three possessions to score while SAU Tech managed only a free throw, but in the end a quick bucket in the paint in the final seconds is all ASU Mid-South could manage.
Adrianne Chambers led the Lady Greyhounds with 24 ponts, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 blocks while Aaliyah Lee recorded her eighth double-double of the season with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Alindavia Lockett scored 8 points and collected 11 rebounds, and Jaquita Caldwell pulled down 10 rebounds to go with 7 points.
