Racing to a 10-point first quarter lead, the Lady Greyhounds kept their foot on the gas and doubled the score of the visiting St. Louis Community College Lady Archers for a 70-35 victory Monday at The Dog House.
The win matches the most wins in a single season in ASU Mid-South women's basketball history while their winning percentage -- currently .938 at 15-1 -- is on track to destroy the previos record of .536 set by the 2016-17 team which finished 15-13 and won the NJCAA Region 2 Championship for only the program's second time.
But it was defense that did the job this game as the 15th-ranked Lady Greyhounds held St. Louis to only 15 second-half points. Offensively, Meleanna Williams led the charge with 15 points while Aaliyah Lee collected her third double-double of the season with 12 points and 13 rebounds to go with 5 blocked shots. Deiana Delaney finished with 11 points, and Williams and Cierra Penn both dished out 4 assists each.
With only 5 region games remaining on the schedule, ASU Mid-South (15-1, 4-1) returns to The Dog House Thursday hosting South Arkansas Community College before a final road swing to UA Cossatot Saturday and SAU Tech Monday.
