Lady Greyhounds Set Record with First 20-Win Season
ASU Mid-South started with a strong first quarter and never looked back to take a 72-49 victory over National Park College as the Lady Greyhounds become the first team in women's basketball program history to reach 20 wins in a season.
ASU Mid-South started with a strong first quarter and never looked back to take a 72-49 victory over National Park College as the Lady Greyhounds become the first team in women's basketball program history to reach 20 wins in a season.
Taking a 24-11 lead after the first quarter, the Lady Greyhounds continued to find the range in the second quarter and led 40-23 at the half before cruising to the win in the second half. ASU Mid-South shot 45.2% from the field and 41.7% from the three-point line while limiting National Park to just 29.4% from the field and 18.8% from the three-point line.
ASU Mid-South (20-1, 9-1) got well-balanced scoring from the entire team as Kaylan Larry scored 12 points, Keiana Delaney had 11 points, Aaliyah Lee scored 10 points, Meleanna Williams and Breanna Campbell had 8 points each, and Cierra Penn chipped in 8 points. Alindavia Lockett scored 6 points with a game-high 11 rebounds, and Haven Cooper scored 6 points as well.
The Lady Greyhounds are the first team in program history to win 20 games in a single season and now turn their attention to postseason play as they have secured the #1 seed in the Region Tournament held at home sites. The first seed also earns a first-round bye with the semifinal set for Tuesday, April 6, at 6:00pm at The Dog House. The winner of the semifinal will advance to the Region 2 Championship Game held Friday, April 9, at 6:00pm. Should ASU Mid-South win their semifinal contest, the championship game will also be played at The Dog House.
