Using a big first half, the Lady Greyhounds jumped out to a quick lead they never relinquished in taking an 84-63 victory over Southern Arkansas University Tech Sunday at The Dog House.
Leading 14-2 at the end of the first quarter, the Lady Greyhounds kept their foot on the gas in the second quarter to lead 35-15 at halftime. The two teams battled evenly in the second half, although SAU Tech used a 10-0 run at the beginning of the fourth quarter to cut the lead to eight points, the Lady Greyhounds retaliated with a 6-0 run and were never threatened the rest of the way.
ASU Mid-South held SAU Tech to 34.9% shooting from the field forced 29 turnovers while shooting 41.7% from the field and an outstanding 11-for-23 (47.8%) from the three-point line.
Jaylia Reed led all scorers with 21 points on 8-of-16 shooting, Aaliyah Lee and Meleanna Williams both finished with 19 points, and Keiana Delaney scored 17 points. Alindavia Lockett finished with a game-high 11 rebounds to go with 6 points while Williams dished out a game-high 8 assists to go with 7 rebounds.
The Lady Greyhounds are alone in second place in NJCAA Region 2 play and host Williams Baptist University JV tomorrow at 5:30pm before returning to The Dog House Thursday to host South Arkansas Community College in their next Region 2 contest.
