ASU Mid-South was firing on all cylinders in defeating the Dyersburg State Community College Lady Eagles 83-53 Saturday at The Dog House in West Memphis.
The Lady Greyhounds killed from the air in shooting 9-of-16 (56.3%) from the three-point line and 48.6% from the field. But it came from every side as ASU Mid-South's four reserves outscored their five starters, 42-41, and hitting 8-of-13 from the arc, while the starters hit 1-of-3 from the arc. The Lady Greyhounds furthered their cause by holding Dyersburg State to just 33.3% shooting from the field and forcing 20 turnovers while committing just 8.
Kayla Griffin led all scorers with 19 points and hitting 3-of-7 from the three-point line while pulling down 6 rebounds, Ashley Hopkins scored 16 points on 8-of-13 shooting to go with 7 boards, and Quintasia Leatherwood chipped in 14 points on 6-of-9 shooting and collected a game-high 4 steals. Jazzmen Robinson led on the boards with 8 rebounds while scoring 5 points, and Aryah Hazley dished out a game-high 7 assists while also scoring 5 points.
The Lady Greyhounds move to 8-3 on the season and next host Jones College from Ellisville, Mississippi. Jones won their previous matchup on November 1 in the first game of the season and are currently ranked #6 in the NJCAA Division I Women's National Rankings.
