Shooting Woes Doom Lady Greyhounds

First night of the Lady Greyhound Classic Tip-Off found the Lady Greyhounds falling to the Lady Rangers of Northwest Mississippi by a final score of 84-62.

It was a tough night for the Lady Greyhounds as they would only shoot 32.3% from the field, and committing 24 turnovers which the Lady Rangers would turn in 23 points. Northwest Mississippi jumped out quick and by the end of the first quarter they had taken a demanding 24-9 lead. The Lady Greyhounds would eventually settle down and start playing their brand of basketball as they would stay even with the Lady Rangers in the second quarter with each team scoring 15 points in the period. The Lady Rangers would take a 39-24 lead into halftime.

The Lady Greyhounds defense came out on fire to start the third quarter as they would turn the Lady Rangers over in their first 5 possessions. At the end of the quarter the Lady Greyhounds found themselves cutting into the lead as they would go on to win the quarter 14-10, to make the score 49-38 in favor of the Lady Rangers heading into the fourth quarter. The Lady Rangers came out quick as they would knock down a 3 in the first 20 seconds of the quarter. That would just be the start of a high scoring quarter for the Lady Rangers as they would go on to score 35 points in the last period. Northwest Mississippi was able to put the game out of reach as it was just too much for the Lady Greyhounds to make a final push. The Lady Rangers would eventually take a 84-62 victory back home to Senatobia.

ASU Mid-South was led by freshman London Robinson who had 17 points and 5 rebounds, as well as West Memphis native Kayla Hudson who had 9 points and 10 rebounds. Esther Kwagala was also in double digits as she scored 11 and pulled down 8 rebounds.
