Lady Greyhounds Comeback Falls Just Short
The Lady Greyhounds were back in The Dog House for the final time this season as they hosted the Lady Stars of South Arkansas College. After falling behind early, the Lady Greyhounds fought until the end falling just short 86-82.
The Lady Greyhounds were back in The Dog House for the final time this season as they hosted the Lady Stars of South Arkansas College. After falling behind early, the Lady Greyhounds fought until the end falling just short 86-82.
South Arkansas got out to a hot start as they took a 16 point advantage after the 1st quarter knocking down 5 of their 7 three point attempts. The Lady Greyhounds struggled early offensively, but once the 2nd quarter started they had found their groove. ASU Mid-South would outscore the Lady Stars 31-18 in the 2nd period, scoring 11 points off of 9 Stars turnovers. The 16 point lead was cut to just 3, as the the Lady Stars took a 44-41 lead into the half. Once again the Lady Greyhounds defense was leading into offense, as they would force 7 more Lady Stars turnovers scoring 11 points off of those turnovers. The Lady Stars continued to find the mark from 3, as they would knock down 2 more in the 3rd quarter. As the 4th quarter started, the Lady Greyhounds gave their final push as they would find themselves just down 2 late in the 4th quarter. Unfortunately, the ball just didn't fall for Mid-South allowing the Lady Stars to escape with a narrow 86-82 win.
The Lady Greyhounds were led by sophomore Ayanna Rutledge with 34 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 6 steals. London Robinson had a double double as she scored 19 points and 14 rebounds. Charalyn Rester scored 14 points and added 5 steals, as Esther Kwagala scored 10 points and added 6 rebounds.
