Comeback Falls Just Short For Lady Greyhounds

The game started out close as the Lady Bobcats held a slim 4 point lead after the first 10 minutes of play. The 2nd quarter Jones really opened things up as they held the Lady Greyhounds to just 7 points. ASU Mid-South really hurt themselves in the first half only hitting 6 shots from the field while committing 18 turnovers in the first half alone. The Lady Bobcats were able to get 14 more shot opportunites than the Lady Greyhounds in the first half, connecting on 4 three pointers able to widen the margin. The bench of the Lady Bobcats would outscore the bench of the Lady Greyhounds 19-0 behind 10 first half points from Zharie Leflore.
Coach Manuel made some great adjustments coming out of the halftime break, as they would outscore the Lady Bobcats by 2 in the 3rd quarter only trailing by 14 going into the 4th quarter. The Lady Greyhounds would continue to attack and fight their way back, as London Robinson would score 18 of her 22 points in the 2nd half going 12-14 from the free throw line. Along with Robinson, her sophomore duo partner in Charalyn Rester would also score 12 of her 15 points in the 2nd half hitting 2 big timely three pointers. ASU Mid-South would cut the lead to 3, but that would be as close as they would get as the Lady Bobcats would widen the gap and defeat the Lady Greyhounds 70-63.
To go along with a game high 22 points, Robinson would also pull down 6 rebounds including 3 assists. Rester finished with 15 points and 4 rebounds. Freshman Zarriah Adams would round out the double digit scoring with 14 points. Lula-Jae Tranfaglia would finish with 8 points and 9 rebounds.
The Lady Greyhounds host the Lady Tigers of Northeast Mississippi Thursday, November 14. Tip-off is set for 5:30.
