The Greyhounds continued to add size for the 2015-16 season with the signing of 6'7" post Chris Smith from G.W. Carver High School in Memphis.
Smith led the Cobras in rebounding on the way to a 20-11 record and an appearance in the Region 8 Tournament quarterfinals. He tied the school single-game rebounding record with 22 boards before breaking it the very next game with a record 29 rebounds. On the season, Smith averaged 10 points, 16 rebounds and 2 blocked shots per game while earning All-District honors.
A four-year basketball letterman, Smith was a three-year starter for coach Steve Bratcher and also lettered in cross-country. He comes from the same high school as Greyhound assistant coach Dellamar Pennington who was instrumental in recruiting Smith to MSCC.
"It's great to welcome Chris to the Greyhound family," said head coach Chris Parker. "We feel he is a great fit in our program, and Coach Pennington did a fantastic job identifying and recruiting Chris from his alma mater. We are very fortunate to have both Carver graduates involved in our program."
