The Greyhounds have landed their first-ever All-State player from Tennessee with the signing of Teverette Cain (pictured with Greyhound assistant coach Dellamar Pennington) for the 2015-16 season.
Cain, a 6'5" guard, led Craigmont High School in scoring for a 23-9 team that won the 16-AA conference on the way to the Region 8 semifinals. On the season, Cain averaged 19.1 points and 7.6 rebounds per game and was named to the Tennessee Sports Writers Association All-State team. He was also named the MVP of both the 16-AA conference and conference tournament as well as to the Region 8 All-Tournament team.
Cain was a four-year basketball letterman for coach David Taylor, serving as captain and earning team MVP honors as a senior. He was named to the prestigious Memphis Commercial-Appeal Best of the Preps team as both a junior and senior.
"Teverette is a big scoring guard with a high basketball IQ," said head coach Chris Parker. "He was the best player from a traditional power program in Memphis and has experienced a lot of success under Coach Taylor. He has an ability to score the basketball from multiple spots on the floor, but can also affect a game in many other ways as well. We feel he will be a very exciting player for us."
