Marion's Davie Signs with the Greyhounds
Marion High School All-State guard LaQuan Davie signs with the Greyhounds!
Arkansas State University Mid-South has announced the signing of LaQuan Davie of Marion High School to a basketball scholarship in what should wrap up a stellar recruiting class.
Davie, a 6'3" point guard, led Marion High School to the Class 6A state tournament as the East's second seed before they dropped a 58-50 decision to the eventual state champion Pine Bluff High School. On the season, Davie averaged 14 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists while earning All-Conference, All-State and All-State Tournament honors for Coach Irving Clay.
The Turrell, Arkansas, native was also chosen to play in the Arkansas High School Coaches Association All-Star Game held at the Farris Center on the campus of the University of Central Arkansas as one of the top 24 seniors in the state where he joined future Greyhound teammate Cameron Ricks, a Little Rock Mills graduate.
The Greyhounds have signed six student-athletes -- two each from the states of Arkansas, Tennessee and Mississippi -- to go with five returners for the 2015-16 season. Six players from last year's team -- five sophomores and one freshman -- have signed basketball scholarships to continue their careers at four-year colleges.
