The Greyhounds took a two-point lead at the half but couldn't overcome the hot shooting from St. Louis as the Archers hit 14 three-pointers to take a 90-78 decision Saturday at The Dog House.
Playing its final game of 2015, ASU Mid-South took a 43-41 halftime lead, but the Archers' Nate Rigmaiden hit five three-pointers in the second half and then sank six of eight free throws down the stretch to seal the game. Of St. Louis' 27 field goals, over half were from behind the three-point line coming from five different players.
Tyler Armstrong led the Greyhounds with 17 points while Tevin Brown hit for 12 and four others chipped in eight points each. And while the home team shot 51% from the field, they turned the ball over 20 times and were outrebounded by the smaller Archers 40-28 while committing 23 fouls to the visitors' 16.
The loss drops the Greyhounds to 6-6 on the young season heading into the Christmas holidays, but the return of leading scorer Tasmania Jones should be a welcome present for the second semester. Jones, who suffered a foot fracture during a game November 14, has missed action in seven of the Greyhounds' 12 games and is hopeful for a January return.
