Up 40-36 at the half despite shooting just seven free throws to the Rangers 21, ASU Mid-South held their hosts to 32.3% from the field to grab the lead behind nine points from Terrandus Smith and eight points each from Teverette Cain and Montee Randle.
The second half, however, was a different story as Northwest shot 6-for-13 from the arc and capitalized at the line by shooting 37 free throws to the Greyhounds' 12. ASU Mid-South didn't help themselves by giving up a 51-42 rebounding mark, including 21 offensive rebounds as the aggressive Rangers recorded 29 second-chance points.
Smith led the Greyhounds with 14 points, Cain finished with 13, Randle had 11 points, and Dee Montgomery finished with 10 points. Chris Smith led the team with seven rebounds while Randle finished with four assists.
Next up for the Greyhounds is the Pioneer Classic in Harrison, Arkansas, this weekend as they take on Wentworth Military on Friday followed by a Saturday tilt with MCC-Penn Valley.
