Playing their final game of 2016, the Greyhounds took an early lead and held off the pesky visitors in taking an 84-62 win over visiting Champion Christian Friday at The Dog House.
Although they never trailed, ASU Mid-South's biggest lead was the final margin as the Greyhounds used a methodical attack to keep Champion at bay throughout the contest. Taking a 41-31 lead at the half behind 14 of Terrandus Smith's team-high 17 points, brother Terrikous Smith scored all 12 of his points in the second half and sophomore Teverette Cain put in 12 of his 16 points in the final frame to keep the lead in double digits.
Finishing out the scoring for ASU Mid-South was Montee Randle with eight points, Jerrick Cole scored seven, KeShaun Davis finished with six points, K.J. Patrick scored five, Chris Smith and Dee Montgomery chipped in four points each, Silas Finch hit for three, and Trevor Banks scored two points in limited minutes.
The Greyhounds finish out final exams next week and then head to the Christmas Break with a 7-5 overall record. They return in January to face Champion Christian again in Hot Springs on January 4 before returning home to The Dog House on Saturday, January 7, against St. Louis Community College at 4:00pm.
