Lynn Captures Fifth Region Player of the Week Award
After winning the Region 2 Championship for the third year in a row, the Greyhounds have placed four players on the 2018-19 All-Region Men's Basketball Team.
In the final week of the regular season, Jalen Lynn, a 6'0" freshman from Collierville, Tennessee, has been named the NJCAA Region 2 Player of the Week for the week of February 25 through March 3. This is the fifth time this year that Lynn has captured Region Player of the Week honors and comes on the heels of the Greyhounds third consecutive Region 2 Championship.
Lynn led the Greyhounds to a 100-67 victory over Central Baptist College JV, scoring 27 points on 10-of-13 shooting, hitting 6-of-7 from the three-point line and 1-for-1 from the free throw line. He then added an incredible performance in the Region Championship game where the Greyhounds took an 80-75 victory in overtime and Lynn scored 26 points, dished out 3 assists while pulling down 3 boards and finishing with a game-high 4 steals. Lynn also hit 5 straight free throws in regulation to force overtime, then scored 6 points in overtime to secure the win.
Currently leading the team in scoring by averaging 17.2 points per game, Lynn is shooting over 45% from the field, 38.5% from the 3-point line and 83.1% from the free throw line as the Greyhounds hold a 22-8 record and are receiving votes in the NJCAA National Poll entering Saturday's District Championship game in Trenton, Missouri, against North Central Missouri College, the Region 16 Champion. The winner advances to the NJCAA National Tournament held in Danville, Illinois.
