Sharp (6'5", 190 lbs.) attended Hall his junior and senior year after moving from Camden, Arkansas. The 6'5, 190-pound forward averaged 8 points and 6 rebounds for the Warriors, but led the team in scoring in four state tournament games as they dropped a 57-54 decision in the state championship game.
"Sharp had a lot of catching up to do when he moved here," said Hall Head Coach Jon Coleman. "I was really hard on him because I knew what he could be. He led us in scoring in the state tournament, and if we would have won that last game he would've been the MVP."
Smith (6'3", 175 lbs.) was a two-year starter for a team that finished 23-7 after winning a conference championship and advancing to the state tournament finals. A "high motor" player, Smith sacrificed his offense to serve as the defensive stopper on the team, regularly guarding the opponents' best player. He averaged 6 points and led the team with just over 2 steals per game, but was one of those players whose real contributions were not reflected on the stat sheet.
"Jared was our 'glue' guy," Coleman said. "He was constant energy and sacrificed a lot of his offensive game to give us the defense we needed to be successful."
The pair joins Nettleton point guard Kevin Fulton, North Little Rock's Kylon McCullough and a solid core of returnees as the Greyhounds lost only three sophomores from last season's 22-9 team that won the program's third NJCAA Region 2 Championship in a row.
