Blytheville Forward Joins Greyhounds for 2020-21

All-Conference forward Tae Smith (left, #12) out of Blytheville High School (AR) has signed an NJCAA Letter of Intent to join the Greyhounds for the 2020-21 season.
Smith (6'5", 180 lbs) helped the Blytheville Chickasaws (26-7) to the 4A State Tournament while earning All-Conference honors in the tough 4A-3 conference under Head Coach McKenzie Pierce. The athletic forward averaged 13.8 points and 7.2 rebounds per game while shooting 37% from the three-point line as Blytheville won their conference with a 13-1 record before falling in the state tournament quarterfinals for the second year in a row to an undefeated Magnolia squad who earned their second consecutive state title. They finished the season ranked #9 in the state of Arkansas according to MaxPreps.com.
Playing varsity for three seasons, Smith also earned All-Conference honors as a junior as Blytheville lost to Magnolia, 63-61, in the state tournament quarterfinals to end the season with a 21-7 overall record.
Smith is the fourth ASU Mid-South signee this spring, following Torien Stewart from Southwind High School in Memphis, Cullen Brown out of Rivercrest High School (AR), and Jacob Hudson out of Cabot (AR).
