6A State Tournament MVP Jones Signs with Greyhounds

The Greyhounds have signed Jeremiah Jones, a guard from Little Rock Central High School, to an NJCAA Letter of Intent with the Greyhounds for the 2020-21 season.

Jones helped lead the Little Rock Central Tigers (18-12) to the 6A State Tournament Championship game before the Arkansas Activities Association called off the finals due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Central was named Co-State Champions with finalist Conway, a team they swept in conference play, and Jones was named Co-MVP of the 6A State Tournament.

The Tigers finished tied for third in the ultra-tough 6A-Central conference under Head Coach Brian Ross. The 6'0" guard averaged 12.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game while shooting 31% from the three-point line. He earned All-Conference honors this season as well as being named to the 6A All-State Tournament Team.

Playing varsity for three seasons, Jones has been a part of a basketball program with a lot of history as this year's team captured the school's 19th boys' basketball state title. Jones' junior season saw the Tigers lose in the first round of the state tournament in 2019, but this year's squad was the first to win a state championship since 1999 when NBA All-Star Joe Johnson was a senior.

Jones is the seventh ASU Mid-South signee this spring, following Torien Stewart from Southwind High School in Memphis, Cullen Brown out of Rivercrest High School (AR), Jacob Hudson out of Cabot (AR), Tae Smith from Blytheville (AR), Jaaron Harriott out of Little Rock (AR), and Spencer Simes from North Little Rock (AR).
