Thanks to 23 first-half field goals, ASU Mid-South took a commanding 59-34 halftime lead behind 11 points each from Sam Smith and Kylon McCullough, and 10 points from Kevin Fulton. The Greyhounds put up another 53 points in the second half as the Eagles never got closer than 20 points the rest of the way.
The Greyhounds (2-0) shot an outstanding 62.5% from the field and 66.7% from the three-point line, going 10-of-15 from behind the arc. ASU Mid-South also dominated the boards with a 50-23 rebounding advantage to overcome 26 turnovers.
Jeremiah Jones led all scorers with 22 points on 8-of-10 shooting while Sam Smith added 20 points going 9-of-13 from the field. Kylon McCullough finished with 13 points, Kevin Fulton scored 11, and Monroe Carr chipped in 10 points. Jaaron Harriott pulled down a game-high 8 rebounds while J.T. Smith dished out a game-high 8 assists to go with 7 points.
The Greyhounds found out earlier in the day they had moved up in the national poll to #11 after debuting at #13 in the preseason rankings. Next up is a home matchup with Crowley's Ridge College JV on Thursday, January 28, before hosting Central Baptist College JV on Monday, February 1.
