Greyhounds Move Up Rankings, Win in Paragould
The Greyhounds moved up in the NJCAA National Rankings to #4 Monday afternoon, then moved to 6-0 on the season with a 107-69 victory Monday night over Crowley's Ridge College JV in Paragould, Arkansas.
The Greyhounds moved up in the NJCAA National Rankings to #4 Monday afternoon, then moved to 6-0 on the season with a 107-69 victory Monday night over Crowley's Ridge College JV in Paragould, Arkansas. The #4 ranking is the first-ever top 5 ranking in school history, and highest since the 2017-18 team went to the NJCAA National Tournament and finished fifth in the nation.
Kylon McCullough started off with the hot hand for ASU Mid-South, scoring 17 points in the first half as the Greyhounds took a 55-36 halftime lead. Then in the second half, it was Jacob Hudson who picked up the scoring as the freshman from Cabot, Arkansas, scored 15 points while Sam Smith put in 13. The Greyhounds shot 55.7% from the field and 39.1% from the three-point line while limiting the home team to just 42.2% shooting from the field and only 25.0% from the arc.
Sam Smith led all scorers with 22 points to go with 8 rebounds, but Jacob Hudson posted his first double-double of the season with 21 points and 10 boards as the Greyhounds took a 43-32 rebounding advantage. Kylon McCullough finished with 19 points while Jordan Rainey scored 12 and Kevin Fulton chipped in 11 points.
The Greyhounds now turn their attention to NJCAA Region 2 play as they host North Arkansas College Saturday at The Dog House. Tipoff for the women's game is at 12:00pm with the men following at 2:00pm.
