Overcoming their visitor's hot hand, the Greyhounds pulled away with a big second half to take a 106-79 victory over the Central Baptist College JV Mustangs Thursday at The Dog House.
The Mustangs started the game with the hot hand, hitting six first-half three-pointers that allowed them to lead nearly the entire half. It wasn't until a Sam Smith traditional three-point play on an assist from Kylon McCullough with 3:19 to play in the half that the Greyhounds took their first lead of the game at 35-34. ASU Mid-South then ended the half with an 11-4 run to lead 46-38 at halftime.
But in the second half the Greyhounds got things going as Jeremiah Jones scored 14 of his game-high 19 points, and the Greyhounds found their touch from the three-point line to knock down 7 treys to run away from the Mustangs.
Kylon McCullough finished with 16 points and a game-high 11 rebounds, Sam Smith scored 14 to go with 8 boards, and Kevin Fulton and Spencer Simes had 11 points each, and Jaaron Harriott and J.T. Smith both finished with 9 points each.
ASU Mid-South (9-1), currently ranked #2 in the nation in the latest NJCAA National Rankings, next travels to play region-rival North Arkansas College Saturday in Harrison. The women begin the action at noon followed by the men's game at 2:00pm. Tickets are being sold to the public, and masks are required at all times.
