The Greyhounds scored 93 points against North Arkansas College, but saw Pioneer center Trent Lippoldt have a career night with 35 points and 24 rebounds as ASU Mid-South fell 109-93 Saturday in Harrison. The loss was the first Region 2 loss for the Greyhounds as they fall to 9-2 overall and 2-1 in region play. North Arkansas improves to 9-3 and is also 2-1 in region play.
With North Arkansas shooting 40 three-pointers the game before, the Greyhounds more than cut in half the Pioneers' three-point attempts to limit the home team to just 6-of-18 from behind the arc. But North Arkansas took advantage of the Greyhounds smaller lineup as Lippoldt, Cyrus Alexander and Kyrin Hines combined for 60 points in the paint as the Pioneers shot a blistering 58.3% from the field and knocked down 19-of-25 free throws (76.0%) to the Greyhounds 9-of-13 (69.2%).
Sam Smith led the Greyhounds with 25 points and 8 rebounds while Jeremiah Jones scored 16 and Kylon McCullough finished with 15 points and 5 assists. J.T. Smith also dished out 5 assists to go with 11 points, and Spencer Simes chipped in 8 points to go with 4 assists.
The Greyhounds return to The Dog House Thursday to host region-leading SAU Tech before traveling to National Park College Saturday in Hot Springs.
