For the first time in school history, every player for the Greyhounds scored in double figures as ASU Mid-South took a 141-52 victory over the visiting Crowley's Ridge College JV Pioneers Monday at The Dog House.
ASU Mid-South held a 70-35 lead at the half and scored 71 points in the second frame, but it was the defense that held Crowley's Ridge to just 17 points in the final 20 minutes that stood out this night. The Pioneers shot just 36.4% from the field and 19.2% from the three-point line for the game while the much larger Greyhounds dominated the boards, 56-19, while forcing 30 Pioneer turnovers.
Braxtyn McCuien led all scorers and rebounders with his near triple-double performance, scoring 24 points to go with 16 rebounds and 7 assists. Christian Thompson and Jesse Washington both scored 20 points each, Jailen Anderson and T.J. Stewart both hit for 15 points each, and Chris Martin, Markese Bolden and Je'marion Westbrook totaled 12 points each and Westin Pickell chipped in 11 points. The Greyhounds were 1 point shy of tying the single-game record of 142 for most points, 2 assists shy of tying the single-game record of 47 for most assists, and 3 field goals short of tying the single-game record of 6 for field goals made.
ASU Mid-South (8-3) next hosts Dyersburg State Community College (8-1) this Saturday at 4:00pm following the women's game at 2:00pm. The last time these two teams met, the Greyhounds got an exciting 74-73 victory in overtime on November 9 in Dyersburg, Tennessee, which is still their only loss of the season.
