"It was nice to be back at home and watching our guys compete. We had a rough go the last couple games, so it was nice to put that behind us. It wasn't the prettiest thing most of the time, but any win is a good win. We have to clean some things up, but it's nice to get that first game after the break out of the way. I'm anxious to see how we come back out tomorrow against a tough Itawamba team." Head Coach Cody Hastings had to say after the game.
The Greyhounds found themselves in a dog fight after they took a 33-15 lead in the first half, as the Mustangs would go on to outscore the Greyhounds 33-16 to finish the half as the Greyhounds took a 49-48 lead heading into the locker room.
The Mustangs came out in the second half and were throwing shots at the Greyhounds as they stuck with them for majority of the second half. With 4 minutes remaining, the Greyhounds were finally able to start putting some seperation in between the teams as they would go on to win the game 101-90.
The Greyhounds were led by Jesse Washington who scored 21 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Kyrin Dock scored his season high of 18, Je'Marion Westbrook with 15, Levi Steele and Darren Wallace both had 11, and Chris Martin rounded out the double digit scoring with 10.
The Greyhounds are on the road as they travel to Fulton, Mississippi Tuesday, November 28 as they take on Itawamba. Tip-off is set for 7:30 following the women's game.
