It was the home opener for the Northeast Mississippi Lady Tigers and they gave their fans a show. The Lady Greyhounds were battling in the first 5 minutes of the 1st quarter before the Lady Tigers got hot, and got hot quickly from the field as they ended the 1st quarter leading 28-11. It just wasn't the Lady Greyhounds night as they struggles to get anything to fall for them in the first half shooting only 26.3% from the field, while the Lady Tigers shot 56.8%. Northeast would eventually take an 53-22 lead heading into the break.
The 2nd half started as they Lady Greyhounds came out and saw some of those shots they were missing in the first half starting to fall, as they were feeding Jakiyah Bell early and often. Although the Lady Tigers cooled off from the floor, they made up for it by connecting on 10 of their 12 free throws in the 3rd quarter. It didn't take long for the Lady Tigers to find their rhythm as they came out in the 4th quarter finding their groove once again. The Lady Tigers would go on to shoot 50.6% from the field for the game compared to only 38.2% from the Lady Greyhounds.
ASU Mid-South was led by guard Jakiyah Bell who scored 21 points and brought down 7 rebounds. London Robinson who battled foul trouble all night ended the night with 9 points and 4 rebounds.
The Lady Greyhounds are back in action Friday, November 10th as they are set to host Northwest Mississippi in the first day of the Lady Greyhound Tip-Off Classic. Tip-off is set for 7:00pm, following the earlier game at 5:00pm.
