The MSCC Lady Greyhounds dropped a pair of decisions last Friday and Saturday afternoon at the Lady Greyhound Classic, and lost to Northwest Mississippi for the second time this season Monday night.
Last Friday night against Meridian Community College, MSCC saw five visiting players go for double-digits, led by Miaya Crowder's 22 points, in an 87-62 loss.
Despite the lopsided-looking final score, MSCC (1-8 overall) trailed only 41-32 at halftime, but allowed 30 offensive rebounds in all to see Meridian blow open a tight game.
Crowder hit 10 of her 16 shots, while Maia McCullum hit seven of 12 for 19 points.
On Saturday, MSCC lost to Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College 82-64, after going in down only 42-34 at halftime.
West Memphis native Kierra Adams made her return to the MSCC lineup, and the sophomore responded with a team-high 16 points, albeit on five of 19 shooting. Adams was a solid six of seven from the free throw line and also pulled down 10 rebounds as well.
Ivory Thornton had 12 points of her own, on two of eight shooting, and also hit eight of 13 free throws.
Earle High School graduate Lacordia Williams was the third Lady Bulldog in double-digits, dropping 12 of her own off the bench. Williams did her damage on five of 13 shooting.
Sherrelle McGowan just missed being the fourth Lady Greyhound in double-digits, finishing with nine points.
Northeastern Oklahoma A&M had but two players in double-digits, but were far more efficient than MSCC's scorers.
Yamile Rodriguez got her 14 points on seven of nine shooting and Asia McCaskill hit 12 on four of five shooting.
Northeastern Oklahoma A&M was a sizzling 45% from three-point range, hitting nine of 20 shots from distance and the visitors also handed out 17 assists to just eight for MSCC.
On Monday night, MSCC got its first opportunity for revenge against Northwest Mississippi, and nearly took advantage, trailing just 45-39 at halftime.
However, the visiting team forced 38 turnovers in all to coast to a 98-70 win over the Lady Greyhounds.
Northwest put four in double-figures, led by 13 from Alyssia King and Sara Lytle. Jacquelyn Brooks and Tekevanna Young hit for 10 apiece.
All five starters from MSCC got to 10 points or more, but the Lady Greyhounds got only eight points from their bench to spell their doom.
Dominique Dillard led the way for MSCC with 15 points, while Williams hit for 13. Adams and Thornton had 12 apiece and Tiffany Smith scored 10 of her own.
Other than the bench, MSCC's undoing was hitting just 31% of its shots against Northwest Mississippi, and just a shade under 61% from the free throw line.
The Lady Greyhounds also turned the ball over 38 more times.
MSCC's women's team is back at it on Thursday, December 11 against Jackson State Community College in Jackson, Tennessee. The Lady Greyhounds return home to the Dog House on Saturday, December 13, against Dyersburg State Community College at 2:00pm.
