For the first time in MSCC history, both the Greyhounds and Lady Greyhounds won on opening day. But unlike the men, who opened the season at home in the Tipoff Classic, the ladies had to do it on the road.
On Friday, the Lady Greyhounds got 29 points from sophomore Kierra Adams and 15 points from freshman Ivory Thornton to take a 60-51 victory over Missouri Valley College.
Missouri Valley held the lead at the half, 36-33, but MSCC took control midway through the final frame to nab the victory.
Saturday's contest would prove to be more difficult as Division I Carl Albert College took control from the start on the way to a 114-68 win. Adams again led the Lady Greyhounds with 21 points and 5 rebounds while freshman Dominique Dillard finished with 14 points and 7 boards.
The Lady Greyhounds again play on the road Thursday at Northwest Mississippi Community College before their first home game Saturday against John A. Logan College. Tipoff Saturday is at 1:00pm.
