The Lady Greyhounds gutted out a hard-earned 58-56 victory Monday night at Williams Baptist University in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas.
In a game that went down to the last minute, ASU Mid-South would take a lead only to be tied a possession later until the Lady Greyhounds went inside to Adrianne Chambers for the go-ahead bucket with a minute to go for a 58-56 advantage. On the ensuing possession, Alindavia Lockett blanketed a three-point shooter who shot an airball out of bounds and the Lady Greyhounds had the ball with just over 37 seconds remaining. After running down the shot clock and missing a short jumper, the Lady Eagles grabbed the rebound and called timeout with under 3 seconds left. But their long attempt at the buzzer was far short and the Lady Greyhounds escaped with the victory.
Aaliyah Lee led all scorers with 21 points to go with 13 rebounds for her seventh double-double of the season. Adrianne Chambers finished with 18 points and a team-high 3 assists while Ashley Pegue scored 9 and Alindavia Lockett chipped in 8 points to go with 10 rebounds.
The Lady Greyhounds travel to North Arkansas College in Harrison Saturday in the first game of a double-header with the men before continuing their road swing Monday at Northwest Mississippi Community College in Senatobia.
