Three Lady Greyhounds Named to the All-Region Team
Aaliyah Lee, Ashley Pegue and Adrianne Chambers have been named to the NJCAA All-Region 2 Basketball Team for their play during the 2019-20 season.
Aaliyah Lee, Ashley Pegue and Adrianne Chambers have been named to the NJCAA All-Region 2 Basketball Team for their play during the 2019-20 season. Lee was named to the First Team while Pegue and Chambers were both named to the Second Team.
The All-Region Teams are based on Region coaches rankings and composed of five First Team and five Second Team members, with the player receiving the most points earning Most Valuable Player honors. Imani Honey, a 5'8" guard from SAU Tech, earned MVP honors for the region.
Aaliyah Lee was named to the All-Region First Team as the 6'1" forward averaged 13.6 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 2.7 blocked shots through the regular season while shooting 47.9% from the field and 62.2% from the free throw line. The freshman from Atoka, Tennessee, earned Region 2 Player of the Week honors once this season for her play during the week of January 6-12.
Ashley Pegue earned All-Region Second Team honors after averaging 9.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game while shooting 29.9% from the field, 29.6% from the three-point line and 68.6% from the free throw line. The 5'8" freshman guard from Springdale, Arkansas, earned Region 2 Player of the Week honors once this season for her play during the week of November 4-11.
Adrianne Chambers earns All-Region Second Team honors after averaging 12.1 points, 7.6 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game while shooting 37.8% from the field, 22.7% from the three-point line, and 67.6% from the free throw line. The 5'9" forward from Little Rock transferred to ASU Mid-South this season after playing her freshman year at Crowley's Ridge College in Paragould, Arkansas.
ASU Mid-South finished 7-20 in the regular season and takes the #4 seed into the Region 2 Tournament which takes place March 1 & 3 at Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas. They play #1 North Arkansas College Sunday at 1:00pm before #2 National Park takes on #3 SAU Tech at 3:00pm. The Greyhound men then play at 5:00pm. The winners of the two women's semifinals will play Tuesday, March 3, at 5:30pm in the championship with the winner advancing to the District playoff.
