Lady Greyhounds Win Region Title, Head to National Tournament
The Lady Greyhounds extended their halftime lead in the third quarter before blowing out the visiting SAU Tech Lady Rockets in the final period to take a 78-48 victory in the Region 2 Tournament Championship game Friday at The Dog House.

The win gives the ASU Mid-South women's program their third Region Championship in program history and their first District title as the Lady Greyhounds now advance to the NJCAA National Tournament for the first time.
Racing out to a 21-6 lead in the first quarter, ASU Mid-South saw the Lady Rockets rebound in the second quarter to pull within 33-25 at the half. After controlling the third quarter and increasing their lead by 3 points to 51-40, the Lady Greyhounds exploded for 27 fourth quarter points to put the game well out of reach.
Meleanna Williams led ASU Mid-South with 28 points to go with a game-high 3 steals, and Aaliyah Lee finished with her seventh double-double of the season with 20 points and 11 rebounds to go with 3 blocked shots. Kaylan Larry scored 9 points and pulled down 6 rebounds while dishing out a game-high 6 assists, and Alindavia Lockett finished with 6 points and 5 boards off the bench.
The Lady Greyhounds shot 50.0% from the field for the game while holding the Lady Rockets to 23.2% shooting, and won the battle of the boards 43-30.
The NJCAA National Tournament will be held April 20-24 in Hickory, North Carolina, at the campus of Catawba Valley Community College. The Lady Greyhounds will wait to see what seed they receive in the 16-team tournament in a selection show that will be livestreamed Monday morning.
