Greyhounds Place Four on All-Region Team
After finishing their second consecutive 18-win season, ASU Mid-South placed four men's basketball players on the NJCAA All-Region team for the 2015-16 season.
After finishing their second consecutive 18-win season, ASU Mid-South placed four men's basketball players on the NJCAA All-Region team for the 2015-16 season.
Tyler Armstrong and Tasmania Jones were named to the Region 2 First Team and Trent Steen and Cameron Ricks were named to the Region 2 Second Team.
Armstrong, a 6'2" sophomore guard from Brinkley, Arkansas, led the team in points (15.6) and steals (1.8) per game while shooting 43% from the field, over 37% from the three-point line and nearly 79% from the free throw line.
Jones, a 6'6" sophomore forward from Wynne, Arkansas, led the team and finished second in the nation in field goal percentage, shooting 71.4% from the field while averaging 15.5 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.1 steals and 0.6 blocks per game.
Steen, a 6'7" sophomore forward from Forrest City, Arkansas, led the Greyhounds in rebounding (7.8) and blocked shots (1.4, good for 46th in the country) while averaging 12.0 points, 2.1 assists and 1.0 steal per game while shooting 49.3% from the field and 70.4% from the free throw line.
Ricks, a 6'1" guard from Little Rock, Arkansas, was the lone Greyhound freshman and averaged 11.5 points, 3.7 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.1 steals while shooting 52.3% from the field, 42.9% from the three-point line (good for 38th in the nation), and 76.7% from the free throw line.
The Greyhounds finished the season with an 18-11 record and set program records and were ranked nationally in the following categories:
Scoring: 92.8 points per game (7th in the nation)
Rebounding: 48.5 rebounds per game (1st in the nation)
Assists: 21.3 assists per game (5th in the nation)
Rebound margin: 11.3 (20th in the nation)
Field goal percentage: 48.4% (18th in the nation)
3-point field goal percentage: 35.8% (35th in the nation)
Opponents field goal percentage: 39.5% (9th in the nation)
And for the third consecutive year, Greyhound fans packed The Dog House and were in the top five in the nation in average attendance.
