The Greyhounds have signed Benton High School point guard Shaheed Halk to an NJCAA Letter of Intent and Scholarship Agreement for the 2017-18 season.
Halk (6'2", 150 lbs.) led the Panthers to a 20-9 record despite a strong schedule as six of their nine losses were to 6A state semifinalist Pine Bluff (4 losses) and 5A state champion Little Rock Mills (2 losses). A three-year starter at point guard, Halk led the Panthers to the 6A State Tournament while averaging ten points, six assists, and four rebounds per game to earn All-Conference honors as both a junior and senior for coach Dexter Hendrix. He also set a school record by dishing out 13 assists in a game against Siloam Springs his senior year.
Halk is the sixth signee for the Greyhounds this spring and fourth player from Arkansas, joining Josh Richardson from Blytheville, Xzavier Reed from Lepanto, and Laquentin Miles from Marked Tree.
