The Greyhounds first trip to the National Tournament will feature a first-round matchup with Cuyahoga College from Cleveland, Ohio, on Tuesday, March 20, at 11:00 a.m. This will be the second game played in the tournament, following the opener at 9:00 a.m. featuring 4th-seeded Louisburg College (NC) and 13th-seeded Erie Community College (NY).
The Greyhounds (26-5), ranked 13th in the final NJCAA Division II poll, drew the 14th seed of the 16-team tournament while Cuyahoga (29-1) was given the third seed after finishing the last two weeks of the season, and eight of 13 weeks overall, at the #1 spot.
The Greyhounds won the NJCAA District XIII Championship with a 68-66 victory at MCC-Penn Valley, a team who has made 13 National Tournament appearances including four of the last six years. Cuyahoga defeated Owens (OH) 80-70 in the NJCAA District XI Championship and is making their third appearance in the National Tournament, but first appearance since 2005 when they finished 4th.
The Greyhounds will play Thursday at 6:00 p.m. with a win and at Thursday at 3:00 p.m. with a loss, so either way the Greyhounds will have a day off before their next game. However, upon winning Thursday they would play Friday and then possibly again Saturday, making it a tough stretch of four games in five days.
All games will be streamed on NJCAATV.com and details will be made available later this week.
