Greyhounds Sign Benton's Peters
The Greyhounds have signed All-State Guard Jai Peters from Benton High School to an NJCAA Letter of Intent and Scholarship Agreement for the 2018-19 season.
The Greyhounds have signed All-State Guard Jai Peters from Benton High School to an NJCAA Letter of Intent and Scholarship Agreement for the 2018-19 season.
Peters (6'0", 160 lbs.) led the Panthers to a 19-10 record and a trip to the 6A State Tournament before dropping a 2-point decision in the Quarterfinals. A three-year starter for Head Coach Dexter Hendrix, Peters led the Panthers in scoring, averaging 18.7 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game.
He earned All-Conference honors as both a junior and senior before being named to the 6A All-State Team and the 6A All-State Tournament Team. Peters finished his career in the Benton High School 1,000-Point Club, finishing with 1,081 points in three seasons. In addition, he was one of 30 seniors in the state of Arkansas chosen to play in the AHSCA All-Star Game held June 23 at the Farris Center located on the campus of the University of Central Arkansas in Conway.
Peters joins former teammate Shaheed Halk, who returns for his sophomore season for the Greyhounds, and is the first signee for the 2018-19 season.
