Greyhound Comeback Falls Short

Down 13 at the half, the Greyhounds won the second half but came up short on the scoreboard, falling 80-70 to the Metropolitan Community College Wolves Friday at the Pioneer Classic in Harrison, Arkansas.

The Greyhounds spotted the Wolves a 10-0 lead to start the game and never recovered. In the second half, the Greyhounds were never able to close the gap past two possessions thanks to 18 turnovers and getting outrebounded 37-31. Further hurting their cause was MCC's 52.1% from the field for the game to offset the Greyhounds shooting 6-of-12 from the arc.

Ike Moore led the Greyhounds with 15 points and a perfect 3-for-3 from the 3-point line. Jalen Lynn finished with 14 points, and Caleb Henry and Garret Finley scored 8 points each. Sophomore Kamron Rose was limited to 7 points and 4 rebounds, the first time in 4 games he hasn't collected a double-double, and Shaheed Halk led the team with 6 assists.

MCC, formerly known as MCC-Penn Valley, lost to the Greyhounds in last season's NJCAA District XIII Championship game which sent the Greyhounds to the National Tournament where they finished in 5th Place.

The Greyhounds next take on Murray State College (OK) Saturday at noon before traveling Monday to play Northwest Mississippi Community College in Senatobia.
