Zach Byrd scored 11 of his 15 points in the first half as ASU Mid-South built a 45-35 lead at the half despite center Kamron Rose leaving the game with an injury, joining two other injured Greyhounds on the bench from the November 12 game at Northwest Mississippi. Shaheed Halk helped with sinking 8 of his 11 points while Garret Finley scored 9 of his 11 in the first frame as well.
The Greyhounds then opened the second half with an 11-2 run highlighed by 8 consecutive points by Jalen Lynn who went on to score 17 of his game-high 24 points in the second half. Ike Moore also helped by scoring 10 of his 16 points in the second half, and also finished with 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Byrd led the battle of the boards with 11, and Shaheed Halk dished out a game-high 8 assists to go with 11 points.
ASU Mid-South shot 55% from the field and 37.5% from the three-point line, and outrebounded the Mustangs 49-35 to overcome 18 turnovers.
Next up is a trip to Fulton, Mississippi, as the Greyhounds play the second game of a double-header with the women against Itawamba Community College Thursday before playing at UA Cossatot Saturday.
