Greyhounds Get Comeback Win in Hot Springs

The Greyhounds didn't take their first lead until the 8:08 mark of the second half, but then didn't give it up to take a 78-75 victory over National Park College in Hot Springs.

Jalen Lynn led all scorers with 25 points, Ike Moore finished with 14 points and a game-high 5 steals, and Christian White put up 13 points and a game-high 9 rebounds for ASU Mid-South. Shaheed Halk chipped in 9 points to go with a game-high 10 assists, and Garret Finley came off the bench with 3 three-pointers for 9 points and 6 rebounds.

The Greyhounds struggled from the field, shooting 40.9%, and in a rare event were outrebounded 33-32. However, the Dogs limited the Nighthawks to only 5 offensive rebounds, forced 24 turnovers and held the nation's top 3-point shooting team to only 3-of-10 shooting (30%) from the arc. Both teams were stellar from the free throw line as NPC shot 26-of-29 for 89.7% and the Greyhounds shot 15-of-19 for 78.9%.

National Park scored the first 4 points of the game and led 37-32 at the half as ASU Mid-South struggled to find its offensive rhythm. NPC stretched its lead to as much as 14 in the second half before Finley's first three-pointer started a 24-7 run that saw the Greyhounds take their first lead at the 8:08 mark when Lynn got by the defense to score a layup.

ASU Mid-South then led by as many as 7 points and were up 78-72 until the Nighthawks hit a 3-pointer with 3.5 seconds left to narrow the gap. The Greyhounds were then called for a quick 5-second call on the inbounds, but NPC's fall-away three-pointer from the corner missed the mark, and ASU Mid-South held on for the win.

The Greyhounds now return to The Dog House Monday at 6:00pm against Northwest Mississippi Community College in the first of seven straight home games after playing 7 of their last 8 on the road. ASU Mid-South ends the season with 10 of their final 12 games at home including the Region 2 Playoff on Saturday, March 2.
