McCuien Named NJCAA All-Academic All American
Greyhound basketball forward Braxtyn McCuien was named to the 2021-22 NJCAA All-Academic First Team after finishing his freshman season with a perfect 4.00 grade point average.
Greyhound basketball forward Braxtyn McCuien was named to the 2021-22 NJCAA All-Academic First Team after finishing his freshman season with a perfect 4.00 grade point average.
McCuien is the first student-athlete in the history of Greyhound Athletics to earn NJCAA All-Academic honors. The 6'7" freshman from Mayflower, Arkansas, averaged 8.8 points and 4.8 rebounds while starting 11 of 16 games after missing 10 games with injury, and hit team-bests of 39.5% from the three-point line and 77.3% from the free throw line.
The NJCAA recognizes student-athletes across the country for their dedication in the classroom. A total of 9,912 student-athletes have been honored for achieving a GPA above 3.60.
Student-athletes are eligible to earn academic honors by achieving an overall GPA of 3.60 or higher for the 2021-22 academic year. The criteria for the three All-Academic teams are listed below:
- NJCAA All-Academic First Team: 4.00 GPA
- NJCAA All-Academic Second Team: 3.80-3.99 GPA
- NJCAA All-Academic Third Team: 3.60-3.79 GPA
