ASU Mid-South Sweeps PCCUA
This will be the last meeting between ASU Mid-South and PCCUA before the Ridge Runners can be eligible for post season play. With that, these two teams provided some tough/gritty play as the Greyhounds made the short trip to Helena West-Helena to bring home their 2nd straight win.

"I'm proud of our guys. After such a tough game Monday, it would of been real easy to come in here lethargic and let one slip away. At times you could tell we were forcing just a little too much instead of just making the right play, but I have been extremely blessed to watch these guys continue to find ways just to get it done and it's always in a different way. Ultimately it all starts on the defensive end and just like Monday, we were able to get the stops at critical times. Our shots weren't falling like they normally do, but our guys didn't settle and they just started attacking. That was something that we didn't even discuss, but they noticed it and did what they needed to do. I'm very happy with the growth of our team, especially our freshman. I love this group, and they get along so well that they are a joy to be around every day. We just have to continue to get better and start playing our best basketball down the final stretch of the regular season." head coach Cody Hastings had to say after the game.
The game started sloppier than both teams would of liked, but it was ASU Mid-South taking the first lead of the game on a Darren Wallace 3 point basket from Davonta Tucker. The Ridge Runners would tie the game at 7, but after a layup from CJ Washington the Greyhounds retook the lead for good. ASU Mid-South would eventually take a 35-25 lead into the half.
PCCUA was doing everything they could to get back into the game, but the Greyhounds defense was forcing the Ridge Runners to take tough contested shots. Although they were able to make a couple, it wasn't enough as the closest they would get to the Greyhounds was 7 before the Greyhounds pushed the lead to 13 with just over 3 minutes remaining putting the game out of reach.
Charleston Wallace led all scorers with 15, as his teammates Jeremiah Aaron (12), and Mitchell Hicks (11) also both finished in double figures for PCCUA.
The Greyhounds were led by 4 guys who scored in double figures. Jaxson Yancy (11), CJ Washington, Davonta Tucker, and Taylor Conner all finished with 10. Hugh McFarland and Darren Wallace both had 9, while Jermaine Christopher added 8. Wallace finished tied for a game high 10 rebounds, as Christopher finished with a game high 7 assists.
With the win, ASU Mid-South moves to 13-11 on the year. The Greyhounds travel to Pine Bluff, Arkansas Monday, February 3rd as they take on Southeast Arkansas. The game will be held at H.O. Clemmons Arena on the campus of UAPB. Tip-off is set for 5:30.
