Setting a new record with their sixth win in a row, the Greyhounds used a 16-0 run to start the second half in racing to an 89-60 victory Monday night at Central Baptist College in Conway, Arkansas.
The Greyhounds took a 42-30 lead into halftime behind ten points from Teverette Cain and nine points from Terrandus Smith, but ran away with the game with the second-half opening spurt to lead 58-30 and were never threatened the rest of the way.
Smith led all scorers with 17 points while Cain finished with 13 points and five assists. Trevor Banks put in solid work with a double-double (ten points, ten rebounds), and Terrikous Smith and Chris Smith both finished with ten points each. Other notable performances were K.J. Patrick who led all players with 12 rebounds to go with six points and a team-high five steals, and Ladarius Mason's nine-point, seven-rebound effort.
Since the program's inception in 2010, the men's basketball program had won five games in a row on two separate occasions (2013-14, 2015-16) prior to last night's record-setting win. The Greyhounds will look to add to that total Thursday night as they begin a five-game homestand against Crowley's Ridge JV, a team they defeated on December 5 in Paragould, Arkansas. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:00pm.
