Win Streak Snapped at West Kentucky

The Greyhounds played well enough to win but just couldn't overcome the offense of West Kentucky in the second half as they fell 97-94 to break a school-record 10-game winning streak Wednesday night in Paducah, Kentucky.

Leading by 13 points at the half, 54-41, ASU Mid-South saw their defense take a turn for the worst as they were flagged for 16 fouls in the second half after committing only seven fouls in the first 20 minutes. West Kentucky responded by taking advantage of 26 of their 32 free throws in the final frame to hit 81% from the charity stripe while the Greyhounds only mustered 19 free throws for the entire game despite repeated drives to the basket.

The Greyhounds shot 55.4% from the field and 50% from the three-point line while controlling the boards 37-25, but 18 ASU Mid-South turnovers and 23 fouls hurt their cause in the end.

Terrandus Smith led the Greyhounds with 29 points, six rebounds, four assists and four steals while Dee Montgomery hit for 20 points on 7-for-11 shooting. Terrikous Smith finished with 12 points, Jerrick Cole scored 10 points, Trevor Banks chipped in 9 points, and Chris Smith finished with 8 points and 11 rebounds.

The Greyhounds return to The Dog House Monday for a matchup with Central Baptist College JV at 6:00pm before hosting North Arkansas College Saturday at 2:00pm for the NJCAA Region 2 Championship Game.
